Anna Kosturova Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Miami 2013
Inspired by the aquatic theory of man’s origin because it perfectly explains her unusual love of water and fascination with sea life, designer Anna Kosturova’s collection is based on everything she loves. She loves anything and everything that is beautiful and created a line to showcase what she believes exemplifies this mantra.
Crochet is probably one of the sexiest materials a bikini could be made of. It doesn’t get any sexier than that peek of skin showing through on a teeny tiny bikini against bare skin, and with Anna Kosturova’s line, that is exactly what the audience experienced at her show. Starting the show off was a stunning bikini that was connected down the middle with a thin line of crochet. With dangling side ties and slashed lines, it was absolutely beautiful in the black or crème version. A two-piece white short and vest outfit was paired with brown boots, giving it that sexy cowgirl appeal. Kosturova also incorporated summer’s hottest hues in her collection, showcasing bikinis in yellow and blue, accented with thread and tied at the sides. Taking these suits and adding fringe made them that much more fun. My favorite suit in the collection was a white lingerie inspired eyelet style suit. The top was ‘60s inspired and the bottom was skirted, which was absolutely adorable.
As far as cover-ups, these were just as sexy. Transparent pants and dresses were worn over similar hued bikinis and were ideal for a day at the pool or a day by the beach. I also loved the throws worn over the models shoulders-these could be tied around the waist for those that are body conscious or worn as a wrap… absolutely perfect beach-chic. One cover-up specifically caught my eye. It was a top with fringe hanging from the bottom made of a pretty crochet design. Rather than simply wearing it as a cover-up, I would wear this with jeans and a tank underneath it for a stylish and comfortable daytime outfit.
The show was clean, pretty, and natural. Featuring unique styles and hues, plus the addition of a few striped styles, the collection was extremely stylish and very obviously well made. I also enjoyed how each model wore gladiator style neutral sandals- they worked well in creating the universal neutral vibe of the show.
