Style Fashion Week & GenArt Bring Indie Designers to the Stage

Wednesday night- The third day Style Fashion Week featured a collaboration with GenArt, a national arts and entertainment company, to bring three Los Angeles indie fashion designers to the stage.  Shaina Mote , Crybaby Presents, and Korovilas wowed the crowd with their individual runway shows. Before each line hit the stage, a short video giving a background of the different designers gave the audience a better insight into the inspiration behind each particular line.
TV host Cat Sadler was on hand to start the show along with OmniPeace, a humanitarian fashion brand fighting the war on poverty.  The OmniPeace video showed various A-list celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox sporting the popular peace logo t-shirts. Directly after the shot film, multi-ethnic models strut the runway in leather leggings and flowing t-shirts to Kayne West’s song “Jesus Walks.”

Next up was up-and-coming indie and self-taught designer Shaina Mote. Large floppy hats gave this chic and organic looking line a nice touch. Her collection was fresh and tailored to perfection. Shaina’s dedication to creating timeless pieces was also apparent.  With a bright future in design ahead of her, Shaina eventually hopes to include menswear in her line as well as open her own boutique store that would feature items other indie designers in the area.
Dynamic Duo Dakota Solt and Lisa Ziven behind the line Crybaby Presents brought us a unique combination of latex looking fabric and sweet plaid tops. Models strolled the runway with baby doll eyelashes and flower filled baskets giving this line an sweet disposition at Style Fashion Week. The odd lobster shaped prop that some of the models carried may represent Dakota and Lisa’s interest in fine art and product design.
The closing show of the night featured the gorgeous line Korovilas by Maria Korovilas.  Maria’s contemporary, ready-to-wear woman’s line is sleek and elegant. Her pieces ranged from sheer fabrics to lace and crocheted maxi dresses. This line had a bohemian vibe with sleek lines and excellent texture.   One viewer put it quite perfectly for Maria’s white lace dress seen below “I could get married on the beach in that dress! “
