The spring/summer 2013 ad campaign for Dior have been unveiled and they are a the work of  the newly-instated creative director Raf Simons who replaced John Galliano.

Raf Simons work has gone for a surrealist quality , shot by Willy Vanderperre a friend of his who helped and shot the entire campaign.

In the past under Galliano the focus generally was on a well known model, this season Raf Simons and Willy Vanderperre opted for a host of five relatively unknown models :Daria Strokous, Anna Martynova, Diane Conterato, Nicole Pollard and Marie Piovesan. And despite their ‘New Look’ poses so synonymous with the brand, many are saying the campaign is ‘boring’ and reminiscent of a video game.

Instead of the usual elaborated sophistication or theatricality, the models are posing against a minimalistic background of white walls with blue skies and flower displays  that certainly add a little colour to it all, yet keeping it truly minimalistic.

Raf Simons has show that he is not going to be a copycat –  what do you think – are you a fan of this modern approach to Dior or do you miss the ‘good old days’?
