A unique pop-up shop celebrating sustainable fashion and artisanal businesses from around the world
On Thursday May 9th, 2013 Urban Outfitters and Dossier Journal will bring a month-long pop-up shop to the Urban Outfitters store on 5th Avenue in New York City. A Zamrock-inspired pop-up modeled after ancient marketplaces, Bazaaaaar fuses art and cultures from around the world to offer a modern mix of sustainable fashions and artisanal goods. Embracing eclectic prints, patterns and traditional fabrics sourced by artists and designers from Africa, Asia, North America and Europe, the pop-up features: Busua Beach Boardriders, Fashion Rising, Fresh Wall Street, Gold Coast Trading, Mazan, One Mango Tree and Sara Bernabe of Studio One Eighty Nine, as well as collections by African Lookbook, Android Homme, Annika Buschman, Buki Akib, Burkman Bros, Chichia, Della, Jessica Barensfeld Adornment, Makono, Mikuti, New Friends, Now Again Records, Object & Totem, Osei Duro, and Wooden Hills Bedding Co.
To celebrate, an opening night party will be held at Urban Outfitters located at 521 5th Avenue, NYC on Thursday May 9th, from 6-9PM and will feature a DJ set by WYNN of Twin Shadow. Guests are encouraged to shop Bazaaaaar’s curated assortment of multicultural apparel, jewelry and art. 10% of proceeds from Bazaaaaar will go to Fashion Rising and Studio One Eighty Nine, to aid in their mission to end violence against women and girls around the world.
