3:1 Phillip Lim for Target Preview
Target has done it again. 3.1 Phillip Lim is joining the ranks of other sought after fashion brands, such as Missoni and Prabal Gurung, for a huge collaboration in stores and online September 15th.
The collection features over one hundred pieces including apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories. Solid and patterned pieces are easily mixed and matched to create the perfect day to night outfit for men or women on the go.
Our bet is that the handbags fly off the shelf first as they look identical to 3.1 Phillip Lim’s own pricier collection that typically carry a price tag upwards of $825. Prices for the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target pieces range from $19.99 to $299.99 with a majority of the items prices around $50. The men’s leather jacket is the most expensive item, but we think you’ll understand it is quite the steal for that price.
World renowned Danish photographer Peter Funch is currently traveling to various major cities around the country including Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto, New York, Miami and Chicago. Peter and his team, including cast stylist Romina Herrera Malatesta and Los Angeles market curator Marlien Rentmeester, are capturing the heart and soul of the collection. These photographs each include prominent figures in the fashion industry from fashion bloggers to reality stars. A few of the cast on set in Los Angeles included Cristos and Cameron, Decades store owners and stars of the Bravo reality TV show “Dukes of Melrose,” and style blogger Jayne Min of Stop It Right Now.
The photographs will be put together to create an interactive cinemagraphic that will come alive at the preview launch in New York City during Fashion Week. Lucky attendees of this event will also get the chance to purchase items at the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target pop-up shop within the event before the September 15th launch.
“One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire—one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible,” says Phillip. He stays true to his chic modern style and asthetic. The collection features clean and simple lines with subtle detailing.
Luckily for shoppers, the collection will be available both online and in stores with no limit on the number of items they can purchase. And here is our little secret- for the first week, the entire collection will be placed together in the women’s apparel department so that shoppers do not need to
run walk to different areas of the store. Just make sure to arrive early to get your hands on your favorite items.
For those of us who prefer to stay at home in our pajamas to do our shopping online, get your mouses ready, there are 30 exclusive online pieces that will NOT be sold in stores. The specific time that the items will be available is yet to be announced. But if it is anything similar to the Prabal Gurung collection last year, items may go on sale 12AM EST September 15, which means 9PM PST.
A history of the designer…. Phillip Lim is a California Native from Orange County. The 3.1 part of the brand name comes from the ages he and business partner Wen Zhou were when they founded the brand in 2005. The first 3.1 Phillip Lim boutique opened in New York City that same year. The Los Angeles boutique, and first west coast store, opened on Robertson Blvd in 2008. In 2007, Phillip was awarded the CFDA award for Emerging Talent in Womenswear. His collections are sought after by celebrities and style bloggers across the globe.
