Tatiana Shabelnik Day 2 Style Fashion Week at LA LIVE
Tatiana Shabelnik’s colorful collection shown on Monday night March 10 2014 at the Style Fashion Week event was expressive for the coming season’s new trends and styles. Born in Minsk Belarus, the fabulous artist has always had the passion to create her own designs ever since she was a child. Tatiana got her degree in Library and Information Science in Belarus, and then got a scholarship for graduate studies in the United States, earning her master’s at Louisiana State University. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2001, working as a web manager for Whittier College, and after ten years in 2012, she enrolled in fashion-design classes at Otis College. This made her childhood dream a reality within one year when she launched her own clothing line for women, called “Contrast”. In June 2013, Tatiana debuted her first collection at the “Marmont” avant-garde fashion show in her hometown. Later in October, she was a finalist for REWards’ Designer of the Year in Los Angeles.
The rapidly growing designer’s latest collection is inspired by her personal style, combining colors and textures to create playful, yet sophisticated casual wear. Whimsical and unconventional, this line features leather, silk and chiffon, uniquely presented by color blocking and creative mismatching. Tatiana’s looks expose her spirit. Clearly designed for Spring and Summer, some pieces show a hint of tropical bohemian chic in either color or silhouette. All of the pieces were completely original, each one intriguing in both aesthetics and movement. The diverse pieces included gowns, coats, skirts, and blouses. One of Tatiana’s edgier looks of the night was a black coat with a black chiffon ruffle top paired with a metallic gray skirt, styled with black boots. Definitely a stunner—a hit for Los Angeles fashion week—as it could be a polished yet lively outfit for the trendy LA woman. Tatiana’s fashion sense is a dream come true!
